Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sonistry (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit sonistry.com (the “Website”) or use the Sonistry application on iPhone, iPad, or Mac (the “App”).
By using the Website or the App, you agree to this policy. If you have questions, use the support form.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Support. If you use the Website support form, we receive your name, email address, and message. If you use Send Feedback in the App, we receive the contents of your message. Feedback drafts include app version, operating system, device model, and license status (for example, trial or purchased). You choose whether to send the message.
- Purchases. If you start a free trial or buy the App, the transaction is handled by Apple. We receive whether a trial or unlock is associated with your Apple ID on that device. We do not receive your payment card details or Apple ID password.
Information collected automatically
- Website. The Website uses Google Analytics, which may collect pages you visit, how long you stay, referring site, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and a cookie or similar identifier. We do not operate accounts on the Website, and we do not collect anything else there.
- Crash reports. If the App crashes, we may collect crash information such as stack traces, app version, device type, operating system version, and timestamps. We do not attach your name or email to these reports, and they do not include your music files.
- On-device App data. The App stores your music library, playlists, likes, play history, settings, and diagnostic logs on your device. This information is used to run the player. It is not uploaded to Sonistry.
We do not require a Sonistry account. We do not run advertising in the App, and we do not use marketing analytics in the App.
Information processed at your request
Certain optional features send information off the App only when you use them:
- Sonos (Mac). If you play to a Sonos speaker on your local network, track metadata and the current audio file are sent to that speaker on your network. We do not send that audio to our servers.
- AI assistants (Mac). If you enable the local assistant connection in Settings, an assistant you install may read library metadata and control playback. This connection is off by default and is limited to programs running as your user on that Mac. The assistant you connect may send that information to its own services under its privacy policy. We do not send it to Sonistry servers.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate and improve the Website and the App
- Understand how the Website is used
- Diagnose crashes and other problems
- Honor your trial and purchase
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with law and protect our rights
We do not use your music library or listening history for advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
How we share information
We share information with:
- Google, which provides Analytics on the Website
- Apple, which processes trials, purchases, and restores through the App Store
- Providers we use to operate the service, such as Resend for delivering support-form messages, only as needed for that purpose
- Others, if required by law, or if needed to protect the Website, the App, our users, or ourselves
We also share information when you choose to: for example, when you send us email, export a library backup, play to a Sonos speaker, or connect an assistant.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context advertising.
Apple, Google, Sonos, and any assistant you connect have their own privacy policies that govern their services.
Cookies
The Website uses cookies and similar technologies through Google Analytics to measure visits. You can block or delete cookies in your browser and use Google’s Analytics opt-out. The App does not use cookies.
Retention
- Information stored by the App on your device remains until you change it or remove the App.
- Website Analytics is retained according to the period configured in Google Analytics.
- Crash reports are retained as long as needed to diagnose and fix problems.
- Support form messages are retained as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information, including relying on the security of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS for data stored on your device, and on encrypted connections used for purchases, Analytics, and crash reports. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
You may:
- Limit cookies and Analytics on the Website as described above
- Remove library data in the App or delete the App
- Manage purchases and billing through your Apple ID
- Leave optional features such as Sonos playback and assistant access unused, or turn assistant access off
- Limit diagnostic data in iOS, iPadOS, or macOS system settings, which may reduce crash information that leaves the device
- Use the support form to ask what information we hold about you or to request that we delete support messages you sent us, subject to any legal duty to retain it
We do not keep a copy of your music library.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, including to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, to object, or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the CCPA/CPRA.
Children
The Website and the App are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International visitors
We are based in the United States. Information described in this policy may be processed in the United States and other countries by us, Apple, and Google. Those countries may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws of your country.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Website or the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
